Wow, this is the first food photography I’ve done with my 85mm lens. I’m really impressed with the image quality. I thought it would be too long, but the focal length was actually quite comfortable.

And the burritos tasted even better than they looked! Mine were filled with pork and Aprille’s with shrimp and mushrooms. I’m a lucky guy.

Two Ladies

Aprille and I saw City Circle’s production of Cabaret last weekend, and it was really good. Aprille spent the previous week getting all the costumes in order, so it was nice to see her work in its full glory after seeing pieces around the house. The show is quite good and worth the price of admission. Sally and the MC are particularly outstanding.

Daffodils are blooming

Spring is here, the daffodils are blooming, and I am back puttering around the garden. I only vaguely know what I’m doing, so I’m recording my adventures in the hopes of improving. There is something very satisfying about getting your hands dirty and watching the seeds of one’s labor grow. I guess you can take the boy off the farm, but you can’t stop him from combining daffodils. Now where’d I park my combine…

Thank you Gary and Beth for the smoker – it’s great. Hopefully I’ll have pictures of ribs or chicken the next time we use it. The trial run was a great experiment, but I was so worried about the meat not cooking thoroughly that I let it cook entirely too long. The smells were wonderful, but the ribs were barely edible. Aprille did make some tasty jambalaya with the chicken though, and you could really taste the smokiness.
